Don't waste your money
Positive: In short, this is by no means a horrible place, but it's not good. It's overpriced and pretty run-down. The property owners clearly don't care too much about the experience that people have here. "We got their money already so who cares", is what seems to be their mentality. Quite disappointed and annoyed by the lack of any response from the owners.
I asked my son what he'd rate the place and he said 2/5. The location certainly factored into this. Had this property been in Silverthorne, or somewhere else further than West Vail, he said it would probably be a soft 1/5. I would rate it a 1 only because of the location and the hot tub and pool were nice.
Negative: Honestly, this place was quite underwhelming. I feel as though the pictures were deceptive. Obviously, people are going to make their property look as attractive as possible in the listing; however, this place was borderline dilapidated in some areas.
One of the main reasons I booked this place was the grill. With that said, you can imagine my frustration when the propane tank was nearly completely empty, i could tell by lifting it that there wasn’t much fuel in it (the grill ran for about 5 minutes before the tank ran dry). Not only that, it was arguably the most disgusting propane tank that I've ever seen - grease and grime galore. It was irritating to show up, start cooking, and then need to drive to West Vail to exchange it for a new tank. I spent extra time, gas, and money for this little "excursion." More than two weeks later, the owner still hasn't responded to two texts and two voicemail messages asking if they can reimburse me for the propane. In the welcome letter it says “we are here to help” and it has a phone number if you have any questions. Any response would have been appreciated.
As I stated before, the photos are deceptive. I don't consider myself high-maintenance or picky, but this place needs some work done. The shower curtain rod was laughably rusty, the windows were filthy, the deck was unkempt and had trash and leaves and huge chunk of snow and ice on it that could easily have been removed (I cleared a good deal of it myself by stomping on it breaking it up and throwing off the deck by hand). The chairs on the deck were a mess. There was a single log of “firewood”. The bathroom floor entrance had exposed 2”x4” and the linoleum was peeling up which i stubbed my toe on.
Keep in mind that the apartments are also adjacent to the highway, so it's pretty loud when you're trying to sleep. I obviously don't blame the property managers for this, but it's something I wanted to include for prospective renters.
